A DN 200 drinking water pipe connects the communities Bahl and Hückelhofen, situated in the county of Heinsberg (western Germany), with each other. The pipe, made of asbestos cement, carries about 200m3 of water daily. During a pipe inspection egg-shell fracture was discovered at different locations of the pipe. Since the pipe provides the only drinking water connection between the communities, a rehabilitation method was required which limits the interruption of the service supply. Replacing the existing pipe through a new pipe was not an option due to the impassable location where the pipe is situated. The rehabilitation technique SaniTube for Water allows for a step by step installation. This means only short term provisions are required to maintain water service supply hence limiting the interruption of water supply. Another advantage of the SaniTube for Water is the renovation of long tracks in one go. As a result the construction time can be reduced significantly.
